4 of my friends had a recent visit to Mocambo, the overall experience was great.
We had ordered Chicken Á la kiev, Bhetki belle meuniere and original chicken garlic steak. Personally, loved bhetki belle meuniere, Á la kiev being their signature dish were great too.
Shall visit again.

Food was simply amazing and was a surprise for us… loved the food though the ambiance wasn’t that good but it was a good family restaurant to visit specifically for Italian food.

A slice of old Calcutta heritage served on the plate in that ambience. They have held the traditions well with the red lamp shades and waiters serving in white overalls and turbans . They have a wide choice for continental dishes which are really well prepared, worth the hype. Had the famous Ala Kiev and the melted butter inside is just yum. You should visit at least once.

I recently visited Mocambo Restaurant & Bar, and the experience genuinely exceeded my expectations. This place is quite popular, and on most weekends you’ll usually find a waiting line outside. They don’t really take advance reservations — instead, a staff member at the entrance takes down your name, and you wait your turn. Fortunately, this time we got in within just 2 minutes, as a table was getting prepared.
Now coming to the food, which is truly the heart of Mocambo — “loved it” would be an understatement. Every dish we ordered was exceptionally flavorful, rich, well-balanced, and honestly some of the best I’ve had in a long time.
Food :
An Italian-style prawn starter with garlic and herbs — the name was a bit complex, but the flavours were spot-on: perfectly cooked prawns, fragrant herbs, and a delicious garlicky touch.
Another Indian-style starter, also excellent.
For mains, I ordered one of their special signature dishes — something featuring Bhetki fish stuffed with prawns, served with a creamy sauce, mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies (peas, carrots). The fish was fresh, soft, and beautifully flavoured. It was so heavy and so satisfying.
One of my friends tried the ham steak sizzler — perfectly cooked, incredibly soft, breaking apart with almost no pressure. I’m guessing it was well-done because the texture was immaculate.
Another friend had the Bhetki fish steak with mushroom sauce — again, rich, creamy, and beautifully seasoned.
Every plate felt thoughtfully crafted — great portions, impeccable taste, and genuine attention to quality.
Ambience & Service:
The ambience is warm and cozy, with that classic, timeless charm Mocambo is known for. The service was quick, polite, and efficient. The staff knew the menu well and were attentive without being intrusive.
Parking:
Parking can be tricky on that busy street. We parked opposite at Westside, as we weren’t sure about dedicated parking facilities for Mocambo. So, plan accordingly, especially during pea

A Nostalgic Anniversary Dinner – Hits, Misses, and Great Vibes!
My wife and I visited Mocambo last Sunday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived around 7:40 PM and luckily got a table within 5 minutes. However, by the time we left, the queue outside was tremendous (at least a 1-hour wait), so I highly recommend going early!
The Food & Drinks:
It’s a great spot if you want to pair your dinner with some beer or whiskey. We ordered a spread of classics: Devilled Crab, Chicken Ala Kiev, Butter Garlic Naan, Mutton Nalli Gosht, Baked Alaska, and a Brownie with Ice Cream.
• The Stars: The Chicken Ala Kiev was very good. But the real winner for me was the Mutton Nalli Gosht—it was absolutely awesome.
• The Letdown: The Devilled Crab was disappointing. It was served a bit cold, and the excessive white sauce and cheese completely overpowered the taste of the crab.
• Dessert: The Baked Alaska was quite good, though I have a suggestion for future diners: try the Mango Alaska if you can!
Ambiance & Cost:
The total bill came to around ₹2,600. We also got a 10% discount by paying via Zomato Dine-in. The vibe is classic and nice to explore, though it does get quite loud on Sundays.
Overall, a nice place for a special dinner and drinks if you time your visit right!

One of Kolkata’s iconic heritage restaurants, it truly needs no introduction. The old-school ambience with dim lighting adds to its timeless charm. The food is consistently delicious, which is why I make it a point to visit almost every quarter.

We visited Mocambo in Kolkata as a group and really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. The Christmas decorations made the place feel very festive, and the whole setting added a special touch to our lunch.
We went for the Continental menu, which was excellent, although there were plenty of other options. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the service throughout was excellent and very attentive.
Overall, a really enjoyable experience and a great place to celebrate during the Christmas season.

The name demands the place. The king of all restaurants in town. One of the best place to have good food. They offer Indian Chinese continental cuisines and they one best thing is the serving of the food. Staffs are helpful and interior is good. A must visit place for all.

I visited on 14th Feb where I had to wait for more than an hour. Food taste is genuinely good. If you love continental dishes, Mocambo should be definitely on your list. Prawn Cocktail, Ala Kiev are must try items here.

I have to admit the whole dining experience was too good! We waited for 30 mins, but it was worth it! The ambience inside was very nice and cozy. It’s my mother’s birthday and it turned out to be one of the best birthdays she had in a while. Lastly, the food, OH MY GOD! Each and every dish was delicious! We ordered the Devilles Crab, Chicken Ala Kiev, Beckty Newburg, Fish Wellington, Irish Chateaubriand Beef Steak Sizzler. For the drinks we had Bloody Mary and Orange Blossom, they were awesome as well. Last but not the least, The Baked Alaska was cherry on top! The service was top notch and the staff were very polite and friendly. The overall experience was really nice, thank you for this service! THANK YOU MOCAMBO, we’d love to visit again!
